29, 2000, at a St. Joseph hospital. Mr. Christofferson, a cook, was born Sept. 7, 1961, in St.

Joseph. He was a graduate of Benton High School. Mr. Christofferson was a member of the Evangelistic Temple. He was a member of two 12-step programs.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Dorothy Mae Christofferson. Surviving: a sister, Cheryl Hunter, St. Joseph; and a friend who cared for him, Dawn Carpenter. Service: 10:30 a.m. Friday, Rupp Funeral Home Chapel, St.

Joseph. The body will be cremated after the service. Inurnment will be held at a later date at Mount Olivet Cemetery, St. Joseph. Visitation: 9 a.m.

to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight. Howard S. Hackett 1919 2000 CAMERON, Mo. Howard S.

Hackett, 81, Cameron, died Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2000, at a Cameron hospital. Mr. Hackett was a school bus driver and a custodian. He also had served in the Army during World War II.

Born Jan. 9, 1919, in Grayson, he was a graduate of Westport High School, Kansas City. Mr. Hackett was a member of the Cameron United Methodist Church, the Cameron American MRS. MARY H.

Seaton. She survives of the home. Mr. Hackett was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Carrie Hackett. Additional survivors: a son, Howard C.

U.S. Cavalry and the 18th Infantry. Mr. Kirkbride was born in Ravenwood on May 15, 1916, where he graduated from Ravenwood High School. He also graduated from Northwest Missouri State Teacher's College in Maryville.

He entered the military after graduating and was commissioned a 2nd lieutenant. He retired in 1971 after more than 31 years of service. He also served as professor of military science at the University of Iowa and the University of California-Davis. Mr. Kirkbride received many awards, including the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal, Army Commendation Medal, French Croix de Guerre, Iranian Liaget Medal, French Fourragere and Vietnamese Armed Forces Honor Medal 1st Class.

He served as vice president of the RB Senior Services coordinator of Volunteer Income Tax Assistance and the Tax Counseling for the Elderly programs. Mr. Kirkbride also served as president of the RB Newcomers Alumni Club and a member of the board of directors and Oaks North Management Corporation Number Two. He was a member of the Christian Church; Retired Officers Association; and Alumni Association of the Army War College. On April 20, 1946, he married Martha Beedle in Kansas City, Kan.

She died in 1979. Mr. Kirkbride also was preceded in death by his parents, John W. and Grace E. Surviving: a son, Max V.

Gilroy; two brothers, John Independence, and Rex, Stockbridge, and two grandchildren. Service: 10 a.m. Saturday, Price Funeral Home, Maryville. Burial: Oak Lawn Cemetery, Ravenwood, with military services conducted by the Army military funeral detail from Fort Leavenworth, Kan. Visitation: 7 to 8 p.m.

Friday at the funeral home. the the Helen C. Hecker 1917-2000 CHILLICOTHE, Mo. Helen Catherine (Dorney) Hecker, 82, Chillicothe, died Tuesday, Aug, 29, 2000, at a Chillicothe hospital. Born Dec.

23, 1917, in Chillicothe, Mrs. Hecker was a lifelong resident. She graduated from St. Joseph Academy. She was a member of St.

Columban's Catholic Church in Chillicothe, St. Ann's Altar Society, Livingston County Women's Democrat Club and Legion of Mary. She also served as Chillicothe Township tax collector for 18 years. On Jan. 6, 1951, she married Robert B.

Hecker in Chillicothe. He died in 1992. Mrs. Hecker also was preceded in death by her parents, Maurice M. and Wilhemina Dorney; a brother, Maurice Dorney; and a sister, Mary Gatson.

Surviving: three sons, Robert M. Dorney, and Danny, all of Chillicothe; five daughters, Jeanine Wheeler, Caroline Newkirk, Kathy Smith and Jo Ellen Clark, all of Chillicothe, and Vera Lea Johnston, Clarence, two sisters, Elizabeth Venable, Chillicothe, and Gertrude Timmons, Wheeling; 21 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Max Kirkbride 1916-2000 SAN DIEGO Max Kirkbride, 84, San Diego, formerly of Ravenwood, died Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2000, at the home of his son in Gilroy, Calif.

Mr. Kirkbride served in the 3rd U.S. Army during World War II. He served as a US Mr. Kirkbride battalion commander during the Korean War and as deputy chief of long- range plans in the Vietnam War.

Nora McKenny 1920-2000 MEMPHIS, Tenn. Nora (Mahoney) McKenny, 80, Memphis, formerly of St. Joseph, died Sunday, Aug. 27, 2000, at a Memphis healthcare center. Mrs.

McKenny, a homemaker, was born March 25, 1920, in St. Joseph. She was a St. Joseph resident for most of her life. She had also lived in Sedalia, and was a resident of Memphis since 1971.

Doyle W. Kabel 1926-2000 SANTA MARIA, Calif. Doyle William Kabel, 73, Santa Maria, formerly of Savannah, died Monday, Aug. 28, 2000, at his home. Mr.

Kabel was born in Savannah on Sept. 20, 1926. He lived in Osceola, most of his life before moving to California. He worked for Jim. Rush Chevrolet in Osceola for 30 years as manager of the detail department.
